Here you can see the artistic process of three graphic novels and a video game I'm working on: CAPTOR, SEVEN, AUTUMN [collaboration with Dylan Andrejic], and SWEET SCREAMS [collaboration with Jae Camedon].

11/18 - 11/24

EXCUSED BLOGGING: Wednesday, Nov. 20

Thursday I went to a production meeting for Hannah/Nyasia's senior showcase play/show/thing. We discussed some director notes and some first impressions set/costume wise.

The other days I read through both Nyasia and Hayley's plays multiple times and planned out what I'm going to be doing for blogs on days that a meeting or rehearsal is canceled. I'll be going back to my former goal and finishing chapter five of CAPTOR entirely. If I am able to accomplish both senior show case and chapter five, I'll move onto chapter six - depends on when the marking period ends and all that good stuff. I'll start adding the "work" hours into blogs starting next week, ONLY if I'm working on CAPTOR-stuff. If it's an entire week of rehearsals or production meetings I won't, as everything is in the calendar and I end up home late anyhow.

CAPTOR [73]

11/11 - 11/17

EXCUSE BLOGGING: Our field trip on Wednesday, 11/13

DOCUMENTATION:

WORK: 2 hours/2 hours

REFLECTION: I assume that since some students got home later and we were all generally back around 7 I believe, that it accounted for an excused blogging day. This week was the final week and I started to outline chapter five. Sadly I wasn't able to wrap up what my overall goal was, but I still pushed as much as time allowed me. I had a few obstacles such as being away from the computer and the most common digital artist problem - losing my tablet pen a few times - but I still got a lot of work done for two hours. I wish I'd measured myself better and worked for longer hours, but there's nothing I can do now since that's past.

AOG: Overall I failed my "overall" goal. It was set to finish up chapter four and five of my comic CAPTOR prior to knowing how many pages each chapter would be. The process would be to take the dialogue and sketch [all the pink you see is the sketches] the actions/panels and write the text [which is a red color you might be able to see]. Then, I'd outline and rewrite the text within speech bubbles neatly. Then, color. That would be it. If I'm to point out my flaws, it would be the week I didn't blog and on our week long break I worked on a different project rather than this one and set myself back twice, basically. So in that respect, it was a discipline or self control issue.

CAPTOR [72]

10/28 - 11/3

EXCUSED BLOGGING: Wed. October 30 - Life Drawing at duCret

DOCUMENTATION:

WORK: 2.25 hours/2 hours

REFLECTION: I took a different approach toward this one to get my sketches done a lot faster. I ended up not really even specifying which character was which. Due to the way I set up certain panels, I had to change the script. A lot. Like a lot of the typed original script for the chapter ended up edited in the sketched pages, and they tend to change slightly when I outline them anyway, so this was one went a lot faster cuz I wasn't flipping back and forth between my browser and sai to copy dialogue word for word [where most time is consumed]. It worked a lot better and I time lapped myself for every page I finished, and the average was about 7/8 minutes per page. I'm most likely going to use it again when I get into further chapters just as a time saver. It might cause the outlining to be longer, but we'll see. It's all experimental, this comic tactic.

AOG: Off schedule by one week. One week. And that kills me internally. Next week, 11/4 - 11/10, we have no school and blogs are not required, but I'm going to work on it anyway, just to catch up. Being home the entire time is going to give me a lot more open time to work on the comic. I'm unsure if we'll be blogging the week after, due to R+J and the fact the marking period starts to close, but I'm going to assume we have to and space the rest of my goal through those two weeks in order to finish. I'm confident I can, it's just maintaining my freedom of being home alone and my self discipline to go "sit down and finish this."
