CAPTOR [71]

10/21 - 10/27

EXCUSED BLOGGING: Wed. Oct 16 and Wed. Oct 23 - Life Drawing at duCret

DOCUMENTATION:

WORK: 2 hours/2 hours

REFLECTION: This is the first time I only did time required instead of going over. I had my own personal complications that don't even factor in. I could have done more, but like last week where I ended up doing no work at all, my sickness is the thing holding me back right now. I'm still in the same time laps though - around 15 minutes per page when it comes to sketching, which seems to very slow. It's mainly the text that takes a while to write out. I'm a little disappointed in myself that I couldn't tackle my illness and work longer, but I had to do one page and take a break each time because my nose was running or I'd start coughing really hard. At least I don't have a fever and am not contagious right? Allergies.

AOG: Way off schedule now. I was doing good for the most part, but I got hit with allergies really hard and it knocked me into bed rest via doctor over the last weekend. This week it came back since I stayed outside more this week. This week I'm determined to punch my immune system back into shape and do triple the work to overthrow the past two weeks that I've fallen behind. I really don't want to subside into failure of my overall goals, however due to my "personal problem" I've screwed over some weekly goals. Life drawing is going good though - real fun.

CAPTOR [70]

10/7 - 10/13

DOCUMENTATION:

WORK: 3.5 hours/2.5 hours

REFLECTION: For such a small chapter this took a bit, however I'm very pleased with the outcome. Coloring pages was, by far, less time consuming than the line work and hand writing the text [which is my outline stage]. I'm really excited for the chapter cuz it's going to be so quick and then it'll lead into a super long chapter with a lot of reveal to [even more] conflict and is gonna bring up the rising action more. I'm not sure how to continue on with this reflection, seeing as all I did was color. I can mention the colors do seem very dark toned and bland, but it's for a purpose which is shown way later in CAPTOR. Anyhow I'll cut this off here before I get into, "Xavier's hair is blue, thus I colored it blue."

AOG: I'm still on schedule. Thankfully I have chapter five's dialogue written up already so I don't need to spend time on it next week. I am a bit scared this is the last time I'll be on schedule since I do bulk work and tend to do these blogs in one day. Just the size comparison of chapter five's' dialogue compared to previous chapters is the thing that's throwing off my psyche. I just need to buckle down and do it. Either I need to focus multiple days on it doubling my time that I already do and put off other projects, or just end up behind schedule. I guess since my mind will personally bitch me out if I get behind, the decision is clear, and next weeks blog is probably going to be seven hours or something like that.

CAPTOR [69]

9/30 - 10/6

DOCUMENTATION:

WORK: 3.75 hours/2.5 hours

REFLECTION: I was able to finish my goal for this week and I went back and, as I call it, white-outed the speech bubbles. I think coloring next week will go by a lot smoother and faster so I can jump ahead onto chapter five. I'm extremely determined to finish my goal, even though I still wouldn't have accomplished it if I was restrained to 2.5 hours per week. It's getting harder and harder for me to make reflection paragraphs, mainly because all I do is draw pages for my comic, and there really isn't "thing to improve here" or "go back and edit this" because everything is solid and final already. Asides, it can get a little annoying if somehow I managed to type seven sentences about the colors I used for the comic [even though I technically could], but it would be ridiculous. "So Xavier's hair is blue, so I colored it blue." I'll just move onto assessment of goal now.

AOG: As said prior, I am still on task. Not ahead, nor begin, just exactly on point. Again, I'll keep writing that I am worrying myself by not being ahead. Chapter four was only 18 pages sketched with only three pages of dialogue written on google docs, whereas chapter five has five pages typed on google docs [it isn't sketched yet, so I cannot compare page numbers]. Regarding publishing the comic, technically it is already, seeing that it is open to the public, but what the real goal was to be able to make it more known. One idea I thought was to create books of the first four or five chapters, but that would just be an expense on my part unless I had a company or someone else pay for it. Being that I'm not super-duper ahead of myself via updates, that tickles my anxiety. But otherwise, I figure spreading awareness that CAPTOR exists, I've been spreading a lot of "HEY READ THIS THING" type of posts both on Facebook and Tumblr, along with updating a lot of my instagram. It's also featured on my portfolio [using Wix] site [though that also is not public yet, but when it is, it'll be there].
